6 Reasons Why Lily Allen Should Be Considered A British Icon
3. She Gets Involved With Politics And Caused A Parliamentary Rebellion
Certain sentences sound like a lie, and certain headlines sound like they are just not true. Maybe by now when the headline mentions Lily Allen, we should know better. In 2008 the following headline emerged: 'Lily Allen inspires Labour energy rebellion'. It wasn't in the Daily Sport accompanied by a random upskirt picture it featured in respected broadsheets such as the Guardian and the Telegraph. If you want further proof, Google it. Go on, I will wait. Done? Good. Believe me? Excellent. As you will now know Lily Allen wrote to every MP to encourage them to challenge a parliamentary bill that she felt was a 'national disgrace'. Challenge they did, and Lily was credited with helping with a parliamentary rebellion that defeated Gordon Brown's Government in Parliament. She defeated a Government. She defeated the Prime Minister. She stood up for the rights of the British people and won. Ok, she may have just signed a letter and I doubt she spent her pregnancies watching the BBC Parliament channel but hey it is an achievement. No disrespect to Cheryl Cole but I don't see her taking down David Cameron and I doubt Pixie Lott has defeated a level of Angry Birds, never mind a political party. Lily Allen doesn't get involved in politics now. But she took down a Government just to prove she could. Point proved.
