7 Best Experimental Albums Of 2013

7. The Haxan Cloak - Excavation

Homepage Large 6fb21ae2 Bobby Krlic is the man behind The Haxan Cloak, a pseudonym used to create dark, somber electronic music. Excavation is his breakthrough album, one that established Krlic as someone in control of mood and tone. The sound of the album perfectly matches the artwork that graces its cover. It is at times unsettling, unnerving and yet, yanks you in and refuses to let go. Krlic's main talent is keeping the landscapes shifting, always moving and keeping our interest as it plunges deeper and deeper into the ground. He incorporates sounds from all over the spectrum: electronic textures, speech, drones, bass kicks that hit like cannonballs. It may not be a "happy" album but it is an incredibly accomplished one that has a remarkable execution.
