7 Best Female Musicians To Debut In the Last 5 Years

Ellie Goulding Music is a large part of everyone's lives. I know it's been a part of mine since I was young having been drawn into the lyrics and instrumentation of many great artists. Though I don't quite love pop music as much as others seem to, I have always been drawn to the female voice. If a woman can truly sing - if she can hit those high notes, those low notes, or simply offer a unique and ambient feel through her voice - then it's almost a guarantee that I'll be hooked. Couple that with a good beat and there's truly nothing better. Many females have been dominating the airwaves and hogging the spotlight for decades, and there seems to be no shortage of talented artists. In the past we've had Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, and Stevie Nicks. In the past few years artists such as Norah Jones, Evanescence, Jazmine Sullivan, and Tegan & Sara have broken into the scene topping charts and proving that musical artistry is more than flashy clothing and bubblegum. This trend has continued today and within the last five years a good deal of women have stepped onto the stage to show off their talents. The following seven artists have all proven they've got what it takes to impress. While some of them have been active far longer than five years not one of them has officially been a mainstay in the media before that time. This makes their accomplishments all the more impressive.
