7 Heavy Metal Songs About Vicious Personal Feuds
5. Bruce Dickinson - Tattooed Millionaire
While we’re on the topic of Nikki Sixx…
I was hard pressed to put this entry here, as research indicates that only Sixx and about half the internet know that this song was inspired by an incident wherein Sixx had an affair with Dickinson’s then-wife as the two artists toured together for the World Slavery Tour.
The only person who has not specifically stated that this is accurate is Dickinson himself, although in an interview around the release of the album, he was asked to describe what a “tattooed millionaire” was, to which he responded that they are a subsect of musicians he deems to be a “big festering... open sore on the a**hole of mankind… in terms of music” and their only concern is “chicks.”
Considering the story and Dickinson’s vindictive expressions during and explanation from said interview, it would not be surprising to find that the “L.A. dude” to which Dickinson refers is Sixx, lambasting the indulgent lifestyles of he and his kin for being “laid back, selfish...” and demonstrating the “same old greed behind PR smiles.”
With little evidence beyond what Nikki Sixx has stated in interviews and publications, one can’t say for sure what Dickinson’s true intentions were, though he has expressed the very same sentiments toward Motley Crue when asked about them in interviews.
