7 Single Songs That Almost Make Their Albums Worth The Cost
5. Stone Temple Pilots - All In The Suit That You Wear / Plush (Acoustic)
Album: Thank You
Whether you loved them or considered them a cheap knock-off of the “finer” acts of the Grunge era, Stone Temple Pilots were an exciting band, exuding a presence with more showmanship than many of their counterparts.
The band was wrought with issues pertaining to singer Scott Weiland’s drug abuse in the latter half of their initial run and with internal band struggles mounting and their previous studio album Shangri-La Dee Da failing to live up to its predecessors, Stone Temple Pilots dissolved before the end of 2002. Enter Thank You, a “best of” compilation capping off the band’s 13-year ride.
This is a case where all of the special material included is worthwhile and choosing one over the other is too difficult. Acoustic versions of Plush from varying sources have received significant radio play in recent years, almost as much, if not more, than the original version, though there had previously not been any “definitive” rendition of it widely available until this point.
The other side of the coin is the album’s single, All in the Suit That You Wear. Originally intended to be the lead single for Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man film, All in the Suit That You Wear surpasses much of the material found on Shangri-La Dee Da, taking a step back into the direction of No. 4 with its heavier though consistently catchy sound.
