2. Let Robeson Sing
2001 single Let Robeson Sing was the bands worst charting single since She is Suffering which managed to reach number 25 seven years previously. This is not an indication of quality because this is the standout track on Know Your Enemy. It is a tribute to actor and singer Paul Robeson and the bravery he showed when he dedicated himself to civil rights campaigning in the 40s and 50s after becoming a victim of McCarthys Red hunt in the United States. The song is beautiful and quite different to a typical Manics single, not least because of the production which was intended to give the track a more retro feeling.
