8 Best Manic Street Preachers Tracks In Anticipation Of Rewind The Film

2. Let Robeson Sing

Let Robeson Sing 2001 single €˜Let Robeson Sing€™ was the band€™s worst charting single since €˜She is Suffering€™ which managed to reach number 25 seven years previously. This is not an indication of quality because this is the standout track on €˜Know Your Enemy.€™ It is a tribute to actor and singer Paul Robeson and the bravery he showed when he dedicated himself to civil rights campaigning in the 40€™s and 50€™s after becoming a victim of McCarthy€™s €˜Red€™ hunt in the United States. The song is beautiful and quite different to a typical Manics single, not least because of the production which was intended to give the track a more retro feeling.

I have one golden rule: There is no such thing as a guilty pleasure. Any song or film that makes you feel good doesn't need justifying.
