7. Metallica Have Nearly Finished Their Tenth Studio Album (And It's Coming Out In 2016)
Ever since the release of 2008's Death Magnetic, Metallica fans have been desperate for a scrap of new music. Death Magnetic was a step away from the watered down commercialism of albums like St. Anger and Reload, and inched back towards the band's roots. Despite some dodgy production issues, the album was a positive sign for the band's future. Now that the band have dipped their toes back in complexity, surely their next record will be even greater? But if there's one thing that can be said about Metallica, it's that they certainly like to take their time between albums. Death Magnetic was released a staggering seven years ago, in September 2008. Since then, there have been various off-the-cuff comments about writing new material and the intention to head back into the recording studio, but it seems finally that some pretty substantial rumours are starting to ramp up in credibility. According to one source, Metallica have already entered the studio, and are being extremely secretive about the recording process. These days, it's not entirely unheard of for a band or artist to drop an album straight out of the blue, so it's possible Metallica is interested in doing something similar. It's thought that Metallica has recorded up to eight songs for the album already, and are gearing up for an extensive tour in support of the album at the end of 2016. Besides, drummer Lars Ulrich has been quoted as saying We've got lots of songs, and we're honing them and tweaking them. It's pretty close which aligns pretty strongly with rumours of the band's progress.
