8 Biggest 2016 Music Rumours That Need To Come True
6. Bon Iver Are Finally Releasing A New Album
Despite the fact that Bon Iver the American indie folk band fronted by prolific singer-songwriter Justin Vernon have only released two studio albums, the band have received immense critical acclaim. For a start, the band won the 2012 Grammy Awards for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album, beating out the likes of Radiohead and Death Cab For Cutie. The band's first album For Emma, Forever Ago was released in 2007 and was followed up by 2011's Bon Iver, Bon Iver (with the 2009 EP Blood Bank in the middle). During the last performance of their 2012 tour, though, Vernon announced it was Bon Iver's last performance as a band. For three years, then, there wasn't a peep from the group, until they reformed in 2015 to play at the Eaux Claires Music Festival in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Vernon was heavily involved in creation, promotion and organization of the festival, so it seemed a fitting venue for a return. Following this appearance, rumours began circulating that the band is recording a third studio album. The proof? For a start, the band debuted two brand new songs at the Eaux Claires Festival, a clear sign they've been doing some writing behind the scenes. On top of that, front-man Justin Vernon is known for being extraordinarily prolific, practically releasing a record (or several) from at least one of his projects every year since he began recording so it's possible they're quite far along in the process. To cap off rumours, Vernon confirmed in an interview that Bon Iver is starting a new cycle and new life. At the end of 2015, the band announced it was to do an extensive tour of Asia. Hey, at least it's a start!
