6. Kanye West Raps About AIDS Being A Conspiracy

For a gentle, soulful mainstream hit featuring middle-of-the-road singer Adam Levine, “Heard ‘Em Say” goes to surprisingly paranoid places.

Right out of the bat, in the first verse, Kanye raps, over a piano-driven lounge beat, “I know the government administered AIDS”, reiterating his belief that the disease was a ploy to rid the world of African Americans and gay people. He explained to Rolling Stone: “My parents taught me that AIDS was a man-made disease designed to get rid of the undesirable people.” Kanye makes more sense as the product of such a suspicious parenting style.

It's not just West that holds this view, though; Frank Zappa and Prince are also proponents. It’s not the first time Kanye has expressed scepticism that the establishment cares about African Americans; on a Hurricane Katrina telethon hosted with Mike Myers, he notoriously claimed that “George Bush doesn’t care about black people”.

It would be interesting to know what the rapper thinks now that Trump is his chum.
