8 Embarrassing Adult Re-Inventions From Famous Musicians

5. Britney Spears

The Britney Spears of today is fabulous and brilliant and I won't hear a word against her. She has made a stunning comeback from her breakdown of a few years ago, silencing critics and delighting fans with album after album of pure pop/dance gold, and going from strength to strength personally, consolidated with her two-year Vegas residency which is already garnering rave reviews. She is now more popular and more critically-lauded than ever, and she is managing to perfectly juggle having a career while being a mother. However I will admit that the Britney Spears of the awkward teenage-to-adult stage did not make the best musical choices. Oops I Did It Again featured a very cringey interlude related to the movie Titanic and her version of I Love Rock And Roll lacked all of the original's attitude. Add to this a very terrible version of the Rolling Stone's (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction and compound it with her dreary, country-tinged, Golden Raspberry award-winning song I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman. Her debut movie Crossroads was originally supposed to feature the song, and also won Britney the Golden Raspberry for Worst Actress in 2002. Also this was around the same time that Britney kissed Madonna at the VMAs, so she was obviously trying to prove a few things to us back then.
