8 Embarrassing Adult Re-Inventions From Famous Musicians

3. Billie Piper

I bet a lot of you had forgotten that Billie Piper had a musical career, hadn't you? Her dramatic work in recent years has far outshone her chart offerings of the past, with stellar turns in Doctor Who (as Rose Tyler) and Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, so there is little shame in not remembering her classic works like Girlfriend and She Wants You, or her song for the Pokemon Movie. But back in 1997 she was (and still is) the youngest ever artist to debut at No. 1 on the British charts, with Because We Want To. Her music was cheeky, in-your-face teenage pop, slightly cloying but mostly inoffensive, and she found great success with her first album, having it certified platinum in the UK. Billie went on to release her second album Walk Of Life in 2000 when she was nineteen, revamping herself as a sexy, more mature singer, and it seemed to work at first. Her lead single Day And Night was another No.1 in the UK, everything was looking good; had she successfully transitioned a la Justin Timberlake? However, her second single from the album was rather unfortunately titled: Something Deep Inside. It was so innuendo-laden that when asked did she regret the name by an audience member on The Friday Night Project in 2000, she replied laughing: "Yeah, big time!". At least she can see the funny side!
