8 Hotly Anticipated 2016 Albums (And Why They'll Be Disappointing)
5. Busted Untitled 2016 Album
A comeback album by an early-2000s pop trio...how can that be disappointing? Busted were a band that formed in 2000, comparable to English pop rock band McFly. They had a string of massive hits including Year 3000, What I Go To School For and Crashed The Wedding. Their music was goofy but catchy, and very much of its time. The group disbanded after one member of the trio, Charlie Simpson, wanted to pursue more serious musical aspirations (in the form his new rock band Fightstar). In 2015, however, the band announced that they were reforming and recording a new album. Unfortunately for Busted, however, the album is guaranteed to disappoint. For a start, it's already disappointing Fightstar fans who liked Charlie's much harder, more serious output. But it's almost certainly going to disappoint Busted fans, too. It's an album that's stuck in a bit of a catch twenty-two situation. If it's goofy, it'll come across as try-hard (the band members are no longer teenagers) and completely out of touch. There's just not really a market for the kind of novelty pop act that was popular in the early 2000s. But if the album attempts to capture a more serious sound, it won't sound like Busted, and fans will be disappointed Though fans are excited for the band's first album in over a decade, few have stopped to consider how impossibly difficult it'll be to keep everyone satisfied.
