8 Massive Song Cliches Everyone Is Tired Of Hearing

6. The Vague Diss Track

Remember back in the early 2000s when Eminem would stir up a bunch of controversy for calling out other celebrities and musicians by name? Sure it was often immature and potentially misjudged, but at least listeners got a sense of raw boldness. His take downs were often brutally honest, and only served to increase the genuineness of the rapper's music – you got the sense that you were listening to something that you probably shouldn't have been, yet hearing Eminem's unfiltered opinion on the world of celebrity was refreshing and fun.

Fast forward to, well...now, and the nature of the diss track in mainstream music is completely different. You've only to look at the whole Katy Perry / Taylor Swift Bad Blood incident to understand what's going on. Released in 2015 from the album 1989, Swift's track Bad Blood supposedly details the destruction of her relationship with former friend Katy Perry. The problem is...it's just laughably tame, and annoyingly vague.

There's a huge disconnect between mainstream musicians grasping for a squeaky clean image and wanting to be edgy and honest. At this point, it's just boring. Just call the person out for once!
