https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DPF_pWIy3w Perhaps the most legendary music video to get the axe from MTV that wasn't performed by Madonna, The Prodigy made it their business in 1997 to make viewing audiences as uncomfortable as possible, thanks to an epically disturbing video that includes rampant misogyny and abuse. Despite claims by the group that this was actually supposed to be a subversion of domestic violence stereotypes (thanks to some clever handheld camera work which led to the surprising final reveal that the protagonist was a woman), it certainly seems a little like Prodigy was trying too hard to drum up some controversy, going through a checklist of all the things viewers might be offended by and presenting them, one by one.
