3. Hes Won An Oscar
Cinema has a love affair with the music of Springsteen as much as he has a love of film. Many of Springsteen's songs have links to films, not least Badlands and the entire The Ghost of Tom Joad album which was influenced by The Grapes of Wrath. This was reciprocated in 1991 as Sean Penns film The Indian Runner was inspired by the song Highway Patrolman.. Springsteen has even appeared in a film, playing as himself alongside John Cusack in High Fidelity. In 1994 Springsteen won an the Best Original Song Academy Award for Streets of Philadelphia from the film Philadelphia and in 1996 he was again nominated for Dead Man Walking from the film of the same name. His most recent original song written for a movie came in the end credits of Aronofskys 2008 film The Wrestler. Here is just a brief selection of films that feature Springsteens music; Jerry Maguire, Reign Over Me, Risky Business, Baby Its You, The Heartbreak Kid, The Perfect Storm, The Wedding Singer, Lucky You, Warm Bodies and The Place Beyond the Pines.
