9 Fascinating Studio Accidents That Made It Into Famous Songs

6. The Police -€“ Roxanne

Roxanne is one of those songs that you just can't help but sing along to. It's the kind of song that has the strangely unidentifiable power to turn everyone within its aural vicinity into embarrassingly terrible dancers. Put simply, the song is infectious as hell, and incredibly upbeat. One of the song's key ingredients, however, is there by total accident

The very beginning of the song contains a piano note followed by loud laughter, masterfully setting the tone for what's about to come. In reality, though, it wasn't supposed to be there at all. It was caused by Sting accidentally leaning on a piano during recording, and prompted laughter from the musician. It's subtle, but it's an absolutely crucial detail that somehow sets up the brilliance of the rest of the song.
