9 Living Musicians Who Literally Came Back After Death

6. Josh Homme - Queens Of The Stone Age

As was the case with Don Powell, the frontman for desert rock band Queens of the Stone Age doesn't owe his near death experience to drugs or alcohol. Well, not entirely, anyway. Josh Homme's story has more to do with running his body too hard and dealing with the brutal side effects of such fatigue.
€œThe odds were dropping to zero €“ I was in three bands, and I loved to produce records for other bands, and I had a family I loved. I wanted to be everything for everyone. I beat myself till I got really sick."
Homme contracted MRSA, which, if you're not familiar with the ailment, has a mortality rate between 20 to 50 percent, depending on when it's diagnosed and treated. Luckily, the QOTSA rocker got tot he hospital in time for them to catch it and get it treated. Unfortunately for Homme, there was an issue during the surgery that caused him to "kind of choke to death." While trying to insert a surgical tube, someone messed up and sent Homme careening toward his grave. They were able to revive him and when he snapped back to consciousness, he recalls a doctor standing over his body saying, "Sh*t, we lost you!"
"I saw no tunnel or anything. But when I woke up, I knew something was wrong. Someone had hurt me, something was stolen from me. I had lost something. I€™ve always heard music in my head since I was a little kid. When I woke up I heard nothing for a couple of years. And it affected me."
