9 Most Disturbing Music Videos You've Ever Seen

3. Smack My B*tch Up - The Prodigy (1997)

Smak A contagiously captivating song from The Prodigy, that caused severe controversy for it's lyrics and offensive choice of name, was interpreted as being misogynistic while sporadically promoting violence towards women once it hit our screens and charts. The music video, directed by Jonas Akerund, depicts the ruthless and brutal night out in a harshly toned city filmed from a first person's perspective, as the individual engages in deviant behaviour including drug abuse, drinking and graphic violence towards both men and women. Smack My B*tch Up drew fierce criticism for it's misogyny connotations from displeased feminist groups, as it suggestively encouraged violence against women, despite it's unanticipated reveal of being a female protagonist to be the perpetrator. While indulging in violence and exposing callous and bleak depths of city nightlife, it's wildly engrossing to the viewer. https://vimeo.com/44561183
