9 Most Underrated Nirvana Songs

8. Negative Creep

Until recently, Nirvana’s debut album was seen as one of the most underrated records of the all time. For a debut record by an unknown band on an indie record label, the album performed surprisingly well but in the grand scheme of things it hardly made a splash.

In the modern day however, ‘Bleach’ is held to a similar standard as other grunge classics such as ‘Louder Than Love’ by Soundgarden and ‘Meantime’ by Helmet.

As a song about feeling alienated and perceiving yourself as a negative person, ‘Negative Creep’ is one of Nirvana’s most angst driven songs. The anger and frustration of struggling to find direction is reflected astonishingly by the raw delivery and Cobain’s classic, distinct vocals.

The anger within the band is abundantly present in all of the songs featured on ‘Bleach’, but ‘Negative Creep’ manages to stand out as a truly aggressive, aggravated and uncomfortable tune.

The legacy of this song has also been extended in recent years thanks to covers of the song being released by the likes of Velvet Revolver and Machine Head.
