9 Reasons Megadeth Are Better Than Metallica
7. They're More Experimental
Say what you want about Megadeth, they're certainly willing to take a Risk (pun absolutely intended).
Though it's undeniably true that not every one of Megadeth's more experimental records is successful (here's looking at you, Super Collider) some of their less-heavy stuff is pretty damn interesting. There's a ton of great material on Risk and Cryptic Writings, even if those albums don't necessarily hold together cohesively. Take a listen to Insomnia if you don't believe me, which incorporates an oriental sound style. At the end of the day, it's exciting not knowing what's coming down the pipeline. The most Metallica have stepped outside their comfort zone in the last thirty years (except for one instance, which we'll get to later) was to record a couple albums of watered-down radio rock. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1w4ghapcyU
