9 Scariest Songs You've Never Heard

9. Bauhaus €“ Bela Lugosi's Dead

Released in 1979 by post-punk band Bauhaus, Bela Lugosi's Dead clocks in at a spine-tingling nine minutes. The song was the band's first ever single, and is widely considered the first gothic rock record ever released€so how could it not be terrifying?

You've only to listen to the first minute or two of the song to get a sense of its unearthly sound. With a lazy, drawn out intro, distorted vocals and random, pounding drums, it doesn't take long for the song to begin to get under your skin €“ and that's just the beginning.

Interestingly, the song was recorded live in the studio in just a single take. The title is a reference to the legendary horror star Bela Lugosi, whose most iconic performances include Count Dracula in the original 1931 adaptation and his appearance in 1935's The Raven.
