9 Scariest Songs You've Never Heard

6. Tiny Tim €“ Tiptoe Through The Tulips

Just because a song is seemingly cheery and upbeat doesn't mean it can't be deeply terrifying. Originally released in 1929 but popularised in 1968 by American singer Tiny Tim, Tiptoe Through The Tulips has garnered something of a reputation in recent years as being extremely creepy.

What's interesting about Tiny Tim's rendition of the song is that it isn't supposed to be scary. Yet Tim's high falsetto and vibrato-laden vocals have since received an incredibly negative reaction. The reassessment of the song first begin in 2011 when it was used in the horror film Insidious during several key scenes. Since then the song is regularly talked about as something fearful and disturbing.

Since reactions are so extreme the only real way to assess the song's terror-inducing merits is to give it a listen yourself...but it's tough to imagine anyone coming away from the tune without even the smallest sense of dread.
