2. The Specials - Ghost Town
British Ska legends The Specials struck gold in 1981 with their seminal hit, Ghost Town. Its lyrical themes of violence and urban decay fit perfectly with the unsettling synth lines and swaying beats, creating a feeling of tension and foreboding, as if the band were performing on the streets while the apocalypse happened around them. The song has also been featured on a great deal of movie soundtracks, but most fittingly, as the opening song in the hit zombie comedy Shaun of the Dead.
