AC/DC - EVERY Album Ranked Worst To Best
3. Highway to Hell (1979)
Unfortunately, 1979’s Highway to Hell marks the final album to feature Bon Scott on lead vocals due to his untimely death in 1980 at just 33 years old.
However, the rock legend doesn’t disappoint here, with his final entry being his strongest yet. Highway to Hell was the first album to see global success and features some of the great rock songs of all time. Phil Rudd also features his best work on the drums on this album, rivalling the ever powerful presence of the Young brothers on guitar.
The album’s title track, Highway to Hell, is easily the stand out track from the album. The song is one of AC/DC’s most popular tracks and brings an outstanding performance from the band. The song was also the first single released for the album, followed by Girls Got Rhythm and Touch Too Much.
These tracks, as well as the majority of album tracks, consistently bring the same energy as Highway to Hell. The only track to not follow this same high energy formula is Night Prowler, which while slower is still a strong song in its own right.
It is a tragedy that the album was Scott’s last, as if his future work with the band would keep riding the same high as this, the world would have be treated to some phenomenal rock music.
