All Gorillaz Albums Ranked From Worst To Best
2. Demon Days
Demon Days is the perfect example of Gorillaz's incredible story-telling ability. The intro song builds up this sense of dread and anticipation in the listener before Last Living Souls comes on and draws you into a post-apocalyptic world where all hope seems lost, which is furthered by the next song, Kids With Guns, showing us the corruption of innocence and the turn to violence, followed afterwards by O Green World, a tribute to the lost beauty of the old society.
The album continues to expand on this dreary setting, eventually summarizing the themes through the parable-like song, Fire Coming Out Of The Monkey's Head. The song tells the story of an innocent people who had their home destroyed and lives ruined by powerful invaders. All of this, and the album as a whole, is a message on the destructive nature of mankind.
The highest point on this album is, perhaps, the band's most popular song, Feel Good Inc. The song and music video show off the dark, post-apocalyptic setting before pulling you out of it during the chorus to fly around on one of the last vestiges of nature, a floating island with a windmill. The imagery is absolutely perfect.
