All Gorillaz Albums Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez
The most recent Gorillaz album, Song Machine, Season One: Strange Timez represents the long-awaited return to the band's story-telling roots. In the videos we see the characters hanging out and going on a number of adventures while working on their new album.
Their fictional studio, the newly revamped Kong Studios in West London, contains portals that allow them to travel to various artists and bring them back to the studio to collaborate. This explains why every single song on the album contains at least one feature, though this album doesn't suffer from a lack of personality like Humanz did, as Damon Albarn is still very much the centre of the project vocally, appearing prominently in most songs. Additionally, there are a bunch of amazing artists featured here like Elton John, ScHoolboy Q, JPEGMAFIA, and more, that all bring their own unique flair to their songs, making Song Machine, Season One possibly the bands most versatile project yet.
There are a number of brilliant music videos for this project, Strange Timez and Pac-Man being two of the most interesting. Overall, this album seems far more in line with the Gorillaz aesthetic than the two previous albums, Humanz and The Now Now, and most fans are excited for Season Two.
