All US Number 1s From 2021 Ranked Worst To Best

10. Drivers License - Olivia Rodrigo

2021 started out strong, with one of its biggest hits coming out in January. Most chart watchers were blindsided by the reveal that a new pop-princess juggernaut was vying for a number-one debut with her first official single. Of course, Olivia Rodrigo was already a star of her own right, famous for her time on Disney, but no one could have anticipated how big the song Drivers License was, or how much this girl would dominate the year ahead.

As far as cultural impact goes, this song was the biggest of the year. Written in regards to Olivia's breakup with a former Disney co-star, a development much publicised by the media, this simplistic song, which sounds like a cross between Taylor Swift and Lana Del Rey, made waves across the Internet, and even inspired a couple of answer songs from the other parties involved in the drama.

The problem with Drivers License? Every other song pushed from Olivia's album managed to eclipse the first single. It speaks to the talent and versatility of this young prodigy that the hits she put out last year kept getting better. But it also means, by default, that Drivers License stands as the weakest single off the album. The song's replay value has diminished greatly over time.
