Alter Bridge: 10 Awesome Facts Hardly ANYONE Knows

7. Blackbird Is "The Greatest Guitar Solo Of All Time"

When Mark Tremonti first started working with Myles Kennedy, he had no idea if the singer could play guitar well or not. Once it was established the lead singer could hold his own on the ax, Alter Bridge featured several songs with both members taking turns on the six-string.

One song in particular that showcased both musicians’ guitar skills, perhaps more than any other, was “Blackbird” from their second album of the same name.

For the better part of 90 seconds, Kennedy and Tremonti traded licks, creating one monstrous guitar solo. The solo was good enough to receive the Ultimate-Guitar’s Greatest Guitar Solo of All Time Award and a 9.5 overall user rating.

Additionally, "Blackbird" quickly reached the top spot in Guitarist Magazine’s Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time back in 2011.

Many fans of the band would have agreed the guitarists deserved the accolades for a masterful song like "Blackbird." Yet, while they were honored by the awards, both Alter Bridge members have been a little bit uncomfortable with the title “Greatest of All Time,” but perhaps they are just humble.
