Alter Bridge: 10 Hidden Song Details You Never Noticed

3. One Day Remains Was Almost The Band's Name - Came From Donnie Darko

Back on Alter Bridge's first album in 2004, Mark Tremonti contributed the lyrics on about 75% of the songs. Of course there was the incredibly touching In Loving Memory, Broken Wings, and the guitarist also produced the lyrics for the album's titular song, One Day Remains.

The song is about living your life as if there is just one day left, and Mark liked the idea so much he titled a song after it, only for that to become the album title. It was even an idea for the band name too, before Alter Bridge was ultimately chosen.

The lyric itself, one day remains, was actually taken by Tremonti from the movie, Donnie Darko. During the movie there is a countdown to the end of the world, and at one point a card flashes up showing 20 days remaining. From this, Mark took the idea and asked the question, what happens when it's just one.
