Alter Bridge: 11 Things You Probably Didn't Know

7. Mark Tremonti Had No Initial Idea Of Myles' Guitar-Playing Abilities

If there's one thing that becomes immediately apparent when you start listening to second album Blackbird, it's the dual guitar-assault that permeates every inch of the compositions. This is something that happened almost by accident, as throughout the recording of the entire first album, Myles kept his guitar-teacher background to himself. It was only on one chance evening when the band were staying in a hotel that Tremonti happened to hear the sounds of someone shredding in a distant room. Edging closer he was sure it was just a metal album cranked far higher than it should be - until he turned the corner and realised it was Myles all along, who'd kept his formidable talents to himself out of sheer modesty and not wanting to step on any toes as 'the new guy'. The rest is history when you listen to how different and progressively more complex each subsequent album would become, but then there's clips like this from years ago that prove Myles might just be from a parallel dimension of jazz rock-Gods with immaculate skills anyway... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X13Bb772UWY
