Alter Bridge: Mark Tremonti's 14 Best Guitar Riffs
4. Cry Of Achilles
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFSP_n3llTU When you've had a string of solid albums as adamantium-strong as Alter Bridge's - the third of which took them to stadiums and landed hit number one rock singles for weeks on end - the world looks upon what you can do next with baited breath. Luckily when your frontman was tapped to sing for Led Zeppelin and fronts Slash's band when he's not with his main outfit, chances are he knows how to make an entrance. Cry of Achilles was exactly what we needed to usher in yet another stompingly-fun rock album, and following a neatly picked pattern from Myles, it launches into a pace-builder of a riff that then repeats with slight variations on the end of each measure. In short it was completely different from anything they'd ever done before, and the punchy progressive feel that enraptures the opening of this track would carry throughout the rest of the album.
