Alter Bridge: Mark Tremonti's 14 Best Guitar Riffs

5. Bleed It Dry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aekMHt6E23M Although Tremonti can lay down complex and unorthodox riffs like Cry a River, The Uninvited or Slip to the Void, he also has a huge soft-spot for cranking up the distortion and just hammering through a couple of notes too. The ability to create such a gigantic sound with such a small amount of frets is something that short of Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell or Pantera's Dimebag Darrell, is a real rarity. That is to say the introductory riff of Bleed it Dry is positively furious, a truly psychotically heavy burst of energy that if you lowered the tuning by a couple of steps, wouldn't look amiss on a Slipknot album. Yes, it's that brutal, but as with Alter Bridge's songwriting skills once a few chords have been thrown in alongside, it starts to work just right. Add in one of Tremonti's most heartfelt and technically proficient solos, and you have one of the best tracks of his career all round.
