Original Artist ABBA (1979)Released 2000 (Anthology) Yngwie Malmsteen has been dubbed one of the greatest guitarists not only of his generation but of all time. Initially beginning his career with 80s rockers Steeler and known for his neo-classical playing style in heavy metal, he has gone on to achieve major solo success with a massive 20 album discography and has gained multitudes of die-hard fans all over the world, even though the majority of them cant even say his name properly (it's pronounced ING-VAY). Once described by Steve Huey of Allmusic as, ".arguably the most technically-accomplished hard rock guitarist to emerge during the '80s, he has crafted his own legacy within the realms of musical history with his seemingly impossible-to-duplicate solo style and soaring musical opuses that are a unique combination of metal heavily influenced by classical music, particularly 19th century violinist composer Niccolò Paganini. In 2000 a compilation album titled Anthology showcasing some of his best known songs was released and featured a bonus cover track of one of ABBAs many number one hits, Gimme Gimme Gimme. Featuring his trademark sweeping arpeggios and heavy guitar sound it has gone on to achieve an underground cult status among his loyal followers, and has injected new life into his fellow Swedes' iconic release from a bygone era.
