Another 6 Things You Should Be Listening To Right Now

5. Clams Casino

electronica/shoegaze/experimental

Chances are you might already have heard Clams Casino, without even realising it. You see, before Clams Casino or Clammy Clams, or Mike Volpe as his mother knows him, stepped into the limelight in his own right he started making connections with and having an influence on some of the newest stars in underground rap.

A producer in his own right of instrumental pieces, he started sending his tracks out and they started getting picked up by the likes of Soulja Boy, Lil B and A$AP Rocky. Which is why since 2008 if you€™d been looking you would have seen a steady increase in tracks on the underground rap scene crediting Clams Casino with production duties. Not just rap though but modern/experimental hip hop and RnB with a collaboration with future RnB star in the making The Weeknd, who also displays the influence of Clams within his own production work.

Though those underground names I€™ve mentioned are very much starting to go overground, and with his connections already made and his influence already being felt Clams is likely to be a big part of this new wave when it takes over if not having a big say in what it will sound like. This year too has seen him release his Instrumentals 2 Mixtape, which goes a long way to further showing his songs can stand alone perfectly well on their own without the assistance of a rap or a vocal.
