Arctic Monkeys: 10 Essential B-Sides Every Fan Must Hear

9. If You Found This It's Probably Too Late

Following a gleefully hammy string introduction and a short, demented wail, 'If You Found This It's Probably Too Late' launches itself into 70 spiky seconds of clattering drums and furious riffing to accompany some of Turner's most telling (and metatextual) lyrics. His rapid-fire wordplay tumbles frantically from his tongue as he attempts to crush his own feelings of bafflement, defiance, and burgeoning panic into four short verses. 'If You've Found This It's Probably Too Late' is the sound of the band taking an uneasy peek into the future, and steeling themselves for the inevitable backlash to come as they choose to lean increasingly away from their original sound. The title seems even more fitting in the wake of 2009's Humbug, as heartbroken fans of the band's early recordings scrambled to find older, supposedly more "authentic" material. Too late, friends - the Monkeys had already moved on. Also Try: 'Temptation Greets You Like Your Naughty Friend' (ft. Dizzee Rascal)
