Not a made-up character, the lead star of "Brianstorm" was in fact a bloke they bumped into on tour in Japan. Brian was a guy who showed up in their dressing room after a gig and left as mysteriously as he arrived - with just a business card as proof of his existence.

"When he left the room, we were a bit freaked out by his presence. So we did a brainstorm for what he was like, drew a little picture and wrote things about him", Alex Turner, NME

A whole song, one of their most famous songs, was written around the five minute experience of a strangely dressed man they'd never meet again. A man who they praised for his "shirt and ties combination". Maybe he was Keyser Söze, who can really say.

"He might have been a magician. He might even be here now. But if we ever find out who he was, it might spoil it", Jamie Cook, NME
