Arctic Monkeys: Ranking Their Albums From Worst To Best

1. Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b09PB3KwEyk Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not is an absolute modern classic. No track is out of place, every moment is compelling and there is a youthful sound of exuberance on display throughout that makes this record incredible fun to listen to. The songs chronicle a night on the town in London which basically set the template for everything that Alex Turner would write about later in the band's career while providing many moments of his trademark lyrical wit. The music itself is a revelation for the genre of indie rock by combining the fast and furious sounds of punk rock with overlapping melodies and beautiful harmonies. This record is also the fastest selling debut in British history and with good reason. It was, simply put, a breath of fresh air for the mid 2000s musical climate by providing a sense of energy back to modern rock and roll but in a new and completely original way. With Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, Arctic Monkeys were able to prove to the world that they are one of the greatest bands of the 2000s but also one of the greatest rock and roll bands of the last 25 years. Key tracks- Mardy Bum, I Bet That You Look Good on the Dancefloor and From the Ritz to the Rubble Thanks so much for reading and I'd love to hear your favorite Arctic Monkeys record in the comments.

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
