Arctic Monkeys: Ranking Their Albums From Worst To Best

2. Favourite Worst Nightmare

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zqLgyMj2Ax0 This record is just pure energy with light and subtle touches of emotional resonance. Favourite Worst Nightmare was really a make it or break it moment artistically for the band and they proved themselves here very well. The songs have a sense of familiarity so they certainly wouldn't disappoint any fans of Arctic Monkeys' debut but they also push the envelope a little by working around different song structures than had previously been explored. The songs on Favourite Worst Nightmare offer a very interesting mixture of the punk rock roots of Arctic Monkeys' first album and the slower, more mellow sound found on Humbug. By digging deeper and producing more heartfelt lyrics coupled with energetic instrumentation the band was able to create some true gems of indie rock while also expanding their horizons. Also, it's rather interesting to note that the opening of 505 is a variation on Ennio Morricone's iconic score to The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Specifically the moment, at the end of the film, when Angel Eyes confronts The Man With No Name and Tuco. Key tracks- Fluorescent Adolescent, D is for Dangerous and 505

My favorite movies are Before Sunrise, Pulp Fiction, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Alien and Her so don't be surprised to see those pop up in my writing from time to time. I'm currently in school for Journalism/English and I have an obsession with all things cinematic on the side.
