The Beatles: Their Top 40 Tracks

1. Yesterday

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNnaxGFO18o Writer: Lennon-McCartney (McCartney) Album: 'Help!' There are several reasons why I picked 'Yesterday' as the best Beatles song. Firstly, it is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear. McCartney's vocal performance is at its peak, and the stripped back guitar/string quartet combination adds to the songs regretful atmosphere. Secondly, it's incredibly iconic. It's one of the most recorded and covered songs ever, and you'll be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't heard it. Finally, the subject matter stands out as such a contrast to your generic Beatles love song, it's a refreshing and welcoming addition to the back catalogue. While many people may disagree, I see 'Yesterday' as the best Beatles song, and probably one of the best songs of all time. Like this list? Let us know in the comments section below.
