Bring Me The Horizon: Ranking Every Album Worst To Best
1. Sempiternal
“THIS.IS.SEMPITERNAL!”
Who else remembers hearing that for the first time during the breakdown of pre-release single, Shadow Moses?
We have reached the (current) peak of BMTH’s stellar discography with 2013’s magnum opus, Sempiternal. Innovation and diversity have been discussed a lot in this article, but were never done quite so well as here.
Sempiternal has everything from the albums that came before it. Post-hardcore slammers like Antivist and House of Wolves take clear inspiration from the band’s heavier albums, whilst melodic ballads such as Sleepwalking and Can You Feel My Heart were the products of the path laid by There is a Hell’s daring new direction.
There isn’t a single weak track on this album and, given that no two songs sound the same, it speaks volumes about BMTH’s vast range of musical talent. It’s likely the reason for That’s The Spirit being rated as lowly in this list as it is - it came right after Sempiternal. Whilst also a good album, it understandably tried to recreate the lightning in a bottle that came before. Maybe we just weren’t ready for another Sempiternal.
If you haven’t listened to Sempiternal already, get on that right now.
