4. Neon Lights
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djFMJQOeFCw Ive never really been a fan of club songs, so maybe Im just biased, but Neon Lights seems to me like a song conceived by a few higher-ups thinking this album needs a club song- make it happen. That being said, the drums in this cut are groove-encouraging, the vocals work well with the beat, and the beat is at least inventive. Overall, this song, to me, is like LeBron James playing football. The guy really is THAT athletic, so, sure, he could play receiver with some work, but the end result wouldnt be as impressive as his basketball skills. On the other side of the coin, sure, Demi Lovatos vocal abilities are good enough to make this song sound good, but for the end result, see my LeBron analogy. Like I said, this thinking could all come from my feelings towards club-type music. 5. Two Pieces
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yU9jAV0ttwM After I heard the near war-march like drum beat at the beginning, I had no idea where this track was going. The bad news? I never really figured it out. The good news is, Lovato shows off a softer side of her voice that sometimes loses its stage time to the more powerful showcases that constantly inhabit her songs. In this song, the softer voice and the powerful voice come together for an easily replay-able piece of work. 6. Nightingale
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkKMG6ABBeY If youre looking for reasons why it is a popular thought that Demi Lovato has a better voice than most pop artists, and you didnt figure it out from hearing Heart Attack, you neednt look much further than this song. Taking on some notes that are usually hidden behind a crowded beat in this genre, Lovato uses her voice to carry a mostly stripped-down instrumental to (guess what?) another amazing finish in perfect-pitch fashion. 7. In Case
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-v503qGuqfk In a more somber cut, Demi describes holding onto old memories of a past love, and the hopes to re-kindle said relationship, over a piano instrumental that she carries completely singlehandedly. The end result is some classic, impressive Demi Lovato vocal showmanship.
