Demi Lovato - Demi Review

8. Really Don€™t Care (Feat. Cher Lloyd)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgHPDirM3NA Was anybody else feeling sad right about now? Well if you were- welcome to the most fun song on the album. Good timing, indeed. From the beginning guitar lick to the almost impossible scenario (that, as explained, wouldn€™t even help the banned ex-lover€™s case) described in the chorus to the absolutely glove-tight (but kind of short?) fitting of €œWant U Back€ singer, Cher Lloyd, €œReally Don€™t Care€ stands out as an obvious radio-strangling hit.

9. Fire Starter

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5mFekfnLOE Bragging over a bouncy, synth-laden beat, Demi compares herself to Superman and James Bond (among other things) in another up-tempo, fun song. This is a song I€™d expect to me more of an under-the-radar type hit if it turns out to be one.

10. Something That We€™re Not

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2OUmsgVeMo Continuing the up-tempo trend of the recent tracks, Lovato touches on a subject almost all of us have had to deal with: that relationship with somebody who is more into you than you are them. The most interesting part of this track is the phrasing of the lyrics in the hook- in what feels like a conscious decision, the lyric €œYou wanna be more than just friends€ is seemingly stuffed into the beat, adding to the frustrated tone of the song. This song is the most obvious show of a still-present younger side to Lovato€™s music, with the €œNot gonna happen, dude€ lyric at 2:22 serving as an exclamation point to that statement.

11. Never Been Hurt

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aj4Nik-Ho4g Over a more electro-sounding beat, Lovato brings a respectable performance to a worthy beat, but if you€™re thinking €œthis sounds kind of familiar€, you have good reason. €œNever Been Hurt€ sounds very similar to €œUnbroken€, the title song of Demi€™s last album. Demi uses some similar lyrics, hits some similar notes, and even the instrumental feels reminiscent of €œUnbroken€. Is that a bad thing? Not really. This song, while not an amazing cut, serves as a sort of level playing field for comparison between now and 2011 (the year €œUnbroken€ was released). This way, if you hadn€™t yet realized the growth of Demi Lovato from last album to now, you can easily spot it.
