10. Masters Of Reality
desert rock/blues/psychedelic Fronted by considerably noteworthy producer Chris Goss, Masters Of Reality are an example of a band that have never truly garnered the attention they deserve. Having formed, way back when, in 1981 the band came to prominence alongside other bands in the Palm Desert Scene; a music scene that came to spawn desert rock and its legendary poster boys, Kyuss Josh Homme being a close friend of Goss. Though earning success producing for bands like the aforementioned Kyuss as well as Queens of the Stone Age, UNKLE, Soulwax, Melissa Auf der Maur and The Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster, it is definitely his own musical output that I draw your attention to now. Taking their name from Black Sabbaths seminal album, you can hear in Masters Of Reality the core elements of the desert sound; heavy bass, slow grooves, hypnotic leads and stoned vocals all wrapped up in blues, hard rock, psychedelia and even a little bit of country. Theyve waiting for your attention for long enough, give it to them now. http://youtu.be/cCLYM_63bk4
