Every Arctic Monkeys Single Ranked Worst To Best
7. R U Mine?
Full of 70s swagger and hip shaking groove, R U Mine? may not have been the #1 best selling success of AM but festival crowds and arenas have heralded it as their song to go bezerk to. Few lines ignite crowds in the way that R U Mine?'s “I'm a puppet on a string,” lights the fuse at Arctic Monkeys concerts. Fans have taken to it like fish to water and this song has taken on a life of its own.
Even the guitars on R U Mine? are sleek with sex, they howl and screech, entering in to heavier and dirtier territories than before. Somewhere between Queens of the Stone Age, 1970s rock and The Black Keys lies this swaggering epic of a song, filled with crooning lyrics, excellent drum work and the competing 1950s stylings of Alex Turner.
To top it all off, R U Mine? has the kind of earworm guitar riff that will go down in legend as one of the band’s best. The band have a penchant for riffage but this one is stupid good.
