Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best

29. Slow Train Coming (1979)

The first instalment of Dylan's Christian Trilogy, Slow Train Coming ushered in one of the most divisive chapters in Bob Dylan's career.

Personal and frighteningly honest, Dylan sings his way through his newfound faith, lamenting about God and revelling in the heavy rock production accompanying him on his journey.

Much like its first sequel, Saved, the preachy lyrics can end up repetitive and distracting, but between the admirable rockabilly stylings of Gotta Serve Somebody and the glorious simplicity Man Gave Names To All The Animals, it's far from Dylan's worst effort.
