Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best

30. Empire Burlesque (1985)

Empire Burlesque is a tricky beast, hence its divisive legacy. Many critics claim it's Dylan's boldest 80s record, whilst other decry it as yet another missed mark in a lacklustre decade.

Both arguments have merit. On the one hand, Empire Burlesque features the wonderfully fun and refreshing pop ballad Tight Connection To My Heart, as well as the touching I'll Remember You. On the other hand, its purposefully zany tone leaves it being more confusing than compelling.

Truthfully, the best thing about Empire Burlesque is the bizarre video for Tight Connection, which was directed by frequent Martin Scorsese collaborator Paul Schrader.
