Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best
9. Rough And Rowdy Ways (2020)
Bob Dylan's most recent album, released at the age of 79, shows a veteran artist who will never lose his magic.
A lyrically dense, brooding and beautifully balanced record, Rough And Rowdy Ways is yet another spotless masterclass in storytelling, best listened to in one sitting to make the most of its purposefully repetitive, circular composition.
Opening with the deeply philosophical I Contain Multitudes and closing with Dylan's longest (and wordiest) song, Murder Most Foul, the album tackles everything from Dylan's place in the world, the assassination of JFK and its effects on American pop culture, and the themes of romance, mythology and spirituality.
Despite pushing 80, Rough And Rowdy Ways finds Dylan still producing some of the best music on offer. It's really quite spectacular.
