Every Bob Dylan Album Ranked Worst To Best
36. Saved (1980)
Saved was the second instalment of Bob Dylan's deeply divisive Christian Trilogy, which he produced during a rough patch in both his career (his latest tour had flopped) and his personal life (turning forty, recently divorced).
In many ways one of his most personal and introspective records, the issues of Saved are well documented, what with its heavy-handed religious dialogue and preachy tones overshadowing Dylan's otherwise cool and breezy music.
It's not all bad - Covenant Woman and Pressing On are both stunning tracks in their own right - but its unsubtle messaging and tiresome repetition makes it a record easily skipped.
