Every David Bowie Album Ranked Worst To Best (By Guitar Power)

8. Young Americans (1975)

Bowie's first departure from glam into a soul-influenced direction. At one time described by Bowie himself as ‘plastic soul’, it was recorded in Philadelphia, which was the go-to destination for the genre at that time.

The album spawned two hits, ‘Young Americans’, which Bowie had said he’d hoped Elvis would record, and ‘Fame’. Although a strong album, the guitar-hero quotient is low. Earl Slick is here but doesn’t really get a chance to blow.
