Every Dropkick Murphys Albums Ranked Worst To Best
7. Turn Up That Dial
A return to the feel of Sing Loud, Sing Proud. A more uplifting tone than that of The Meanest of Times. Dropkick Murphy's tenth studio album, Turn Up That Dial, is another example of the band's tone reversing course between records. While 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory was an admittedly darker album for the band, Turn Up That Dial was written to bring listeners out of the doldrum of the COVID era.
Songs like Middle Finger shines a light on the band's Pogues influence. L-EE-BOY is the latest in a tradition of humorous odes to whoever is playing pipes for them at the time. As of the writing of this album, Lee Forshner is the piper for whom the track is named.
Track six slows things down with "H.B.D.M.F.", a passable track that pokes fun of the concept of birthdays. "Smash s**t Up" brings the aggressive, if not pirate-y feel of earlier songs "Shipping Up To Boston" and "The Lonesome Boatman".
Turn Up That Dial is a fun album to spin when you're feeling a little tired of Sing Loud, Sing Proud.
